U3A Northern Illawarra offers life-long learning as well as social and intellectual engagement for those no longer in full-time employment. As in many other countries, U3A has developed as community-based education and social interactions and its strength lies in the strength it draws from the local community.
We offer a range of activities throughout the weeks of school terms – see our Special Interest Groups and Newsletter pages for details.
Our weekly talks by local and invited experts cover the full range of human experience including, for example, travel, science, history, biography, sport and leisure, and creative arts. Of course, local universities can make a strong contribution to U3A and we are no exception. In addition to community-based experts, we also draw on local higher education institutions to deliver stimulating talks and lectures.
Research has shown that as we get older, it is important to maintain our physical and mental health, and that mental stimulation and social interaction contribute to positive ageing and wellbeing.
So join us now! U3A keeps your mind alive!
You will see we offer something for everyone:
