Welcome to U3A Northern Illawarra!
U3A (the University of the Third Age) is open to anyone who is post-employment and there are NO assessments, examinations, or certificates. U3A is a worldwide movement where people in their “third age” – active or semi-retirement after childhood and employment – from all walks of life, get together to enjoy life-long learning opportunities and to enjoy social opportunities. We host a wide range of physical, social, and educational opportunities in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
We offer a range of activities throughout the weeks of school terms – see our “Programs” and “Newsletter” pages for details. You will see that we offer something for everyone: Our group activities range from physical health, to philosophy, to current affairs, to language, book club, brain games, enjoying the movies, and others. Our weekly talks by local and invited experts cover the full range of human experience including, for example, travel, science, history, biography, sport and leisure, and creative arts.
Research has shown that as we get older, it is important to maintain our physical and mental health, and that mental stimulation and social interaction contribute to positive ageing and wellbeing. So join us now! U3A keeps your mind alive!
U3A Northern Illawarra is located in Thirroul, in the northern suburbs of Wollongong, set between the sparkling Pacific Ocean and the Illawarra Escarpment.
U3A Northern Illawarra is proudly supported by Wollongong City Council.
Most Northern Illawarra U3A activities have resumed, although some small groups have limited attendance numbers, and some have changed venues, while Covid restrictions last.
